When it comes to make-up, I am how you might say, err, somewhat 'challenged' in the art of all things creamy, balmy, foundationy and kholy. In fact I'm so make-up inept that I have never even owned my own mascara wand, forced to steal my mother's whenever it's required. True story. Give me a wad of cash, a time limit and a shopping center and I'm in my element, but point me at the beauty department in Myer and you're more likely to find me in the foetal position before I even get to the perfumes. So, while some people's New Years resolutions may consist of doing more exercise, eating more vegetables and not sleeping through their alarm, I set myself the challenge of being less of a make-up douch.
To begin my induction into the world of make up I felt it necessary to buy good quality essentials; Idealy, a new foundation, bronzer, concealer and lipstick. I can say with more satisfaction than a Cheshire cat that my goals were indeed fulfilled. For the foundation I opted for the L'Oreal True Match Foundation, which matched my skin tone well and when applied had an almost powdery finish making it light and perfect for Summer. Because let's face it, no one likes to have heavy fountain pouring down their face in 35 degree heat. For the bronzer and concealer I went for the Bare Minerals line, which was the brand that originally began the trend of mineral make up. Created through a unique cold-pressed method, the formula combines sea minerals with antioxidants and carrot oil. None of the products contain harsh chemicals, fillers or binders, making it all natural and great for your skin. Both the bronzer and concealer leave me with a softer, smoother and less pigmented complexion. Finally was the lipstick, but how to pick the perfect shade? Unfortunately I had to have half my face painted so I looked like I a clown before I could make my decision, but I decided upon a shade from Lipstick Queen's 'Saint' collection that can work for either day or night.
So I feel like I've already put a big tick next to my New Years resolution and have set up a solid foundation for my make up application. oh yes, pun intended.
